HOLY FAMILY PARISH PASTORAL TEAM

The pastoral care and activity in our Parish is well established and extensive. Under the guidance of Fr Peter Burns a number of the parishioners are involved in various roles and we hope everyone will feel they can join a team in any area which is appropriate to them.

Children's Liturgy

Takes place at the 10.30 Mass during term time. On the first Sunday of each month 10.30 Mass is a "Children's Mass".

Club Day Committee

Club Day Committee Club Day has been a tradition in Freckleton for well over a hundred years. It involves a Procession of Witness by the Churches in the village and takes place on the third Saturday in June. This is followed by a weekend of sports and fun when the whole community comes together to celebrate.

Holy Family Church has a Club Day Committee which co-ordinates the annual procession. The planning starts March/April and involves designing and preparing the three floats. The Play School, Primary School and Youth of Holy Family organise an individual float with help from the committee, together with co-ordinating the banners and other walkers and making sure everything runs smoothly on the day.

We are always open to new people joining the Committee and fresh ideas are most welcome. Help with the float preparation or walking with the children on the day itself all make the day special for the whole community, If you would like to be involved in this historic tradition please contact Jill Atherton on 01772 461346/07766 104074.
Youth Group

The youth group is open to any boy or girl in year 7 or above.

We go places, and do things. So far we have been to Manchester United, Scuba Diving, Snow Tubing, Up a Climbing Wall and on retreat with the Bishop – just to mention a few.

We also help in the local community by raising money for CAFOD, manning the water station for the Freckleton Half Marathon, Serving on the altar, and the older ones help in the Children’s Liturgy as
y oung leaders.

We all get on well together. We really help each other out.

If you would like to join us contact Catherine Potter on 01772 493475.

Sally's Angels

A Club opened to girls from 10 - 16 yrs. regardless of race, religion or creed. The overall purpose for the Club is to give the girls access to a range of learning opportunities and challenging experiences, within a Christian ethos, which promote their personal and social development and which should orient them towards becoming good students and ultimately responsible parents and citizens.

The Club meets on the first Monday of every month and the girls have a large input in choosing the activities which will include, just to mention a few, visits to: The Chill Factor in Manchester, Beacon Fell, Ladyewell, a Treasure Hunt, Making Ginger Bread Men and Carol Singing at Naze Lane Sheltered Accommodation.

Each Session includes time for talk and reflection on topical/moral issues.
